MUSIC LIKE NO OTHER FOR SONY

After their work with Bravia, it was almost inevitable that Fallon would be asked to have a crack at the sickly child of the Sony stable, their MP3 players. Having had their asses whooped by the now ubiquitous iPod, music like no other is a stab at retaking the upper hand.

According to the blurb, the ad is the first monophonic work ever in the UK. Or as they would have it ...

"Music Pieces" brings a musical experience like.no.other to television screens, by taking an original piece of music composed by Hollywood music director Peter Raeburn ["Sexy Beast", "Birth"] and deconstructing it to give 128 musicians just one note each to play in order to reconstruct the melody.

By all accounts, the shoot used 32 drummers including, 8 Glockenspiels, 1 Toy Glock, 6 Kalimbas (thumb pianos), 16 High Synths, 4 Bass Synths, 4 Toy Pianos, 1 Shofar, 8 Tubas, 4 Melodicas, 8 Double Bass, 32 Electric Guitars and 4 Music boxes.

Loath though we are to admit it - this being the fourth Fallon ad that has found its way onto this blog in as many weeks - it's a super piece of work. Although at the same time, will likely be sticking to my iPod Touch.
